Stars' Seguin day-to-day with concussion-like symptoms

Tyler Seguin leads the Dallas Stars in goals with 12 on the season
The Dallas Stars have announced that newly acquired forward Tyler Seguin missed Sunday's shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers with concussion-like symptoms, and should be considered day-to-day moving forward.

“We went through the (league-mandated concussion) protocol in the morning with our doctor coming in and doing the testing on him and ruling him out,” said coach Lindy Ruff on Sunday. “As soon as he feels better and can exercise and the symptoms go away, he’ll be back getting ready to play.”

Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn have formed one of the most prolific scoring tandems in the National Hockey League, the former Boston Bruin logging 23 points in 24 games for the Stars while Benn leads the team with 24 points in 25 games - Seguin's 12 goals lead the Stars by a wide margin.

Seguin's spot on the line will be taken by Dustin Jeffrey.

It has been a rough spell for Seguin, who had been held out of two practices earlier in the week with a “muscle issue,”, but was able to play on Friday night against the Chicago Blackhawks, when in the course of the game the 21-year-old took a hit that brought about the symptoms.

"It was just a hit that didn’t seem like too much, but just caught him right, and he wasn’t feeling good the next morning.” Ruff said.

Apparently the Stars are optimistic that Seguin can be back on the ice soon, as he will accompanied the team on their two-game road trip to face the Blackhawks in Chicago on Tuesday followed by a stop over in Toronto on Thursday for a game against the Maple Leafs.
