Sabres lose leading scorer Hodgson

The Buffalo Sabres can't catch a break.

Having a horrendous first half of the season, the Sabres won for just the ninth time in 35 tries on Thursday night against the Atlantic Division leading Boston Bruins, but lost center Cody Hodgson in the process.

Hodgson left the ice in the first period with what was deemed an upper-body injury after sacrificing himself blocking a Torey Krug rocket and did not return to the game.

"Cody got banged up a little bit. An upper-body injury I guess. It could be a little while but we'll get the doctor's report after." - interim coach Ted Nolan

The Sabres rank dead last in the NHL in scoring, and losing their leading scorer Hodgson - 19 points in 33 games - could halt the momentum the team has started to build since Nolan took over.

At 9-23-3, the Sabres have just 21 points but are 5-8-2 under Nolan and have won two straight.
