Columbus gets McElhinney back between the pipes

The Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Curtis McElhinney is scheduled to be between the pipes against Philadelphia on Thursday night, returning from a lower-body injury that had sidelined him for the past week.

Dude, wait...what?  The Blue Jackets are getting back an injured player?

Will wonders never cease?

The wounded Blue Jackets could definately use some good news, what with names like Jared Boll, Cody Bass, Nathan Horton, Marian Gaborik and James Wisniewski all on the shelf, not to mention number one goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

"Uh....That's a big list" - coach Todd Richards

The king of understatement, Richards' enthusiasm was about to gush into overflow when he learned that he was also very close to getting back Wisniewski and Gaborik in addition to McElhinney, but was doubly tempered with the news that not only were those two not making the trip to Philadelphia with the rest of the team, but neither were defenseman Dalton Prout nor center Derek MacKenzie, who suffered injuries in Monday's loss to Winnipeg.

Gaborik says that he will be ready for the second leg of the home-and-home series with the Flyers on Saturday in Columbus, but Prout - who was placed on the IR - and MacKenzie will be out for a couple of weeks.
