Red Wings' Datsyuk returns against Panthers

After spending the past seven games on the shelf with concussion-like symptoms, Detroit Red Wings' center Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup on Tuesday evening and gave the Florida Panthers a headache.

Although the Panthers pulled out a 3-2 shootout win, Datsyuk made his presence felt in short order, assisting on linemate Todd Bertuzzi's sixth goal of the season in the first period, then potted one himself in the second, involving himself on all the scoring for the 'Wings.

Same old Pavel.

We're glad to have him back, he's a good player. Any time you miss good players, it's harder. - Mike Babcock

With the helper and his 13th goal, Datsyuk has 25 points in as many games played and is five points shy of Henrik Zetterberg for the team lead in points.  The 13 goals is tops on the team.

Despite not having Datsyuk, the Red Wings were never left wanting for offense, scoring three or more goals in six of the seven games he missed, posting a 5-2-0 mark.

Babcock didn't bother easing the 35-year-old Russian into the lineup, as Datsyuk skated right on his season average of ice time.
