Jackets' Wisniewski out with UBI

The Columbus Blue Jackets have sidelined defenseman James Wisniewski for at least two games with an upper-boy injury suffered in their Friday night victory over the Minnesota Wild.

The nature of the injury wasn't made clear, but original indications were that Wisniewski could miss a week, though that has been amended to missing just Monday night's 2-1 loss to the Penguins and Tuesday's home game hosting the New Jersey Devils.

David Savard will take his shifts in the lineup.

The nine year veteran has proven to be a durable minute-eater on the blue line, and is second in points scored on the team behind only Ryan Johansen.  In 27 of a possible 29 games, Wisniewski has 2 goals and 16 assists and carries a plus-2 rating.

An offensive-minded defenseman, Wisniewski's best season came in 2010-11 when he lit the lamp 10 times and logged 41 helpers splitting the season between the New York Islanders and the Montreal Canadiens and has a 40/167 line for his career.

He was traded to the Blue Jackets during the offseason in 2011, but had an auspicious start with Columbus as he was suspended the remainder of the preseason and the first eight games of the regular season after a cheap shot to the head of Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck.
