Blues' place Sobotka on shelf with UBI

The St. Louis Blues injury status is a bit of a mixed bag.

Right wing Jared Schwartz was back on the clock on Thursday night, finding twine playing on the Blues' first line along side Alexander Steen and T.J. Oshie in a St. Louis victory over the Montreal Canadiens  - but all of the injury news isn't as merry.

Schwartz' regular linemate center Valdimir Sobotka was placed on the team's injured reserved list as he is not responding to rest and treatment as quickly as the team had hoped - but on the flip side, center David Backes skated for the second day in a row and is hoping to be back from a speculated concussion and should be ready to go after the Christmas holiday.

"There's been a little improvement every day and that's a positive sign. We'll see how things transpires here in the next little while. Hopefully I'll be an ice hockey player again in the near future."- David Backes

As for Sobotka, he sat for a third straight game on Thursday because of an upper-body injury even though he participated in the teams' morning skate, coach Ken Hitchcock saying that he was about fifty percent of where he needed to be and should be considered day-to-day.

The league leader in faceoff win percentage at nearly 62% left last Saturday's game versus Columbus after playing just 16 shifts and 9:25 of ice time.
