Bruins' Hamilton out for a week; Miller ok after boarding incident

The snake-bitten Boston Bruins' blue liners just can't seem to get away from the slithering little bags of poison.

The latest victims, youngsters Dougie Hamilton and Kevan Miller have distinctly different prognosis' upon being evaluated after leaving Boston's Sunday night win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hamilton, who has really started to thrive as a complete defenseman in his second season with the Bruins was forced to the locker room in the first period after suffering a leg injury in a collision along the dashers with Leafs' defenseman Carl Gunnarson and did not return.

Miller, in just his fifth game with the team this season, was forced to the room after a flagrant hit between the numbers by Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf - a boarding incident that went uncalled on the ice but gained the attention of the league as Phaneuf is scheduled with a phone hearing with the league's Department of Player Safety on Monday.

Though Miller was dazed and checking his forehead for signs of leakage, coach Claude Julien told beat reporters that he didn't expect Miller to miss any time - while Hamilton will miss a week.  Julien says that he is waiting to see if injured defenseman Johnny Boychuk can go in practice on Monday afternoon before deciding whether or not to call up a replacement from Providence.

Miller scored his first NHL goal in the second period, which proved to be the game winner.  He has a plus-2 rating and averages 17:53 of ice time, while Hamilton has three goals and four helpers on the year and carries a plus-9 rating.
