Wings' DeKeyser out, Marchenko in against Stars

Detroit Red Wings' defenseman Danny DeKeyser has been classified as day-to-day with what appears to be a groin injury.

The 23-year-old blue liner has had a tough go of it this season, missing 15 games with a separated left shoulder suffered in a loss at Phoenix on November 19th, returning to action two weeks ago at Toronto - then felt a twinge in his groin during the Winter Classic against the Maple Leafs on New Years Day.

A big minute eater, DeKeyser averages 21 minutes of ice time per game and sports a plus-one rating.  In 27 games, he has 10 points, consisting of two goals and eight helpers.

In his stead, the Wings have recalled young blueliner Alexey Marchenko from AHL Grand Rapids for his NHL debut against the Dallas Stars.  The big righty has 16 points and has earned a plus-15 rating in 33 games this season at the AHL level.

His recall may be short-lived however, as DeKeyser should miss just this one game.
