Wild's Spurgeon hits shelf with LBI

All of the little nicks and dings that Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon has been playing through lately seems to have caught up with him.

The Wild have placed the demure blue liner in the Injured Reserved list with what is being classified through the ambiguous catch-all "Lower-body injury".

Spurgeon has been a beast as late,as he has logged over 27 minutes of ice time the past few games - venturing into Chara-esque territory, but averaging 21:34 over his 43 games.  The 24-tear-old has scored one goal and helped on 11 others and has earned a plus-six rating while accumulating just 10 penalty minutes on the season.

As for picking up the slack, Jonas Brodin will be bumped up to play alongside Ryan Suter and Nate Prosser will move up to the Wild's second pairing.

"Pross, I liked his game," Yeo said. "He's shown in the past that he can provide the kind of stability and defensive game that we need to go up against top lines. It’s a great opportunity for him."
