Wings' Darren Helm misses Classic; listed day-to-day

Darren Helm just can't catch a break, pardon the pun...

One game after returning from a shoulder injury that has robbed him of half of his season thus far, Helm has apparently tweaked a groin muscle and is listed as day-to-day by the club.

Helm was a surprise addition to the roster on Monday night as the team traveled to Nashville to take on the Predators after the team had announced that he would be out until after the Winter Classic on New Years' Day, but logged 15:35 of ice time in the Red Wings' 6-4 loss to the Preds.

Little information is available on when the injury was sustained, but it can only be speculated that it occurred during the game in Nashville as Helm was held out of Tuesday's practice.  He has dealt with a nagging groin injury over the past year.

When healthy, the 27-year-old has deadly accuracy on his shot, finding twine on an average of once every four attempts, notching seven goals and four helpers and averaging 16:09 of ice time over 16 games played.
