Panthers' Dylan Olsen on the shelf with an LBI

The Florida Panthers have placed defenseman Dylan Olsen on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

There has been no elaboration as to the nature of the injury, which is believed to have been suffered in the Panthers' overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

Olsen has been smoking hot in points production, scoring three goals and helping on six others in his 17 games with the big club, a far cry from his production at AHL Rockford, where he totaled 11 points in 50 games last season.

The move is retroactive to December 31st, meaning that Olsen will be ineligible for Saturday night's contest against the Nashville Predators and also for Monday night's match at Montreal against the Canadiens.  The earliest he can return to the lineup is on Thursday in Buffalo.

The 23-year-old spark plug rates a plus-four and averages nearly 17 minutes of ice time per game.
