Stepping in front of a Torey Krug patented "Krug Missile" is never a pleasant proposition, as Buffalo Sabres' centerman Cody Hodgson recently discovered.
Hodgson attempted to block one of the Boston Bruins defenseman's blue line rockets during the Sabres' 4-2 win over the Bruins on December 19th and left the game with what interim coach Ted Nolan described as an upper-body injury - and he hasn't played since.
But as recently as Sunday the Sabres' leading scorer was seen on the practice ice with other injured teammates, sporting the cast supporting his left thumb and wrist. It was speculated at the time that the cast was a precautionary measure to promote healing, but the team placed the 23-year-old on the injured reserved list, leading many to believe that he's dealing with a broken bone instead.
In a corresponding roster move, Buffalo has recalled young left winger Johan Larsson from their AHL affiliate in Rochester, who has yo-yo'd between the two destinations all season. Buffalo also has recalled defenseman Brayden McNabb to help fill in for the loss of veteran blue liner Henrik Tallinder, who is also on the IR with a speculated rib injury.
The Sabres' are in the midst of a nightmarish season, though they have played a respectable brand of hockey since Nolan assumed the bench boss job.
