Update: Stars' Sergei Gonchar concussed, will miss at least a week

As the result of taking a puck to the face on Saturday night in San Jose, Dallas Stars defenseman Sergei Gonchar will miss 7 - 10 days with concussion like symptoms.

No Stars practice today, but GM Jim Nill says Gonchar has concussion-like symptoms (out 7-10 days). No call-up. Fortunus will be in vs. LA.

The wiley blue liner has 12 points in 35 games thus far in the season, and is a reliable minute eater, averaging just over 19 per game.

Despite the Stars' injury plague along the blue line that, in part, has Dallas ranked 21st in the league in total defense, they have managed to win three of their last four games against some of the best teams in the Western Conference, outscoring their opponents 14-8 in that span.

Gonchar joins fellow defensemen Aaron Rome, Stephane Robidas and Trevor Daley on the shelf, though it has been speculated that Rome may be ready to play by this weekend, which begins a span of five consecutive home games for the Stars.
