The Winnipeg Jets have been without left winger Evander Kane for the past four games, and now he'll be gone until the league reconvenes it's schedule after the Olympic break.
Initially injuring his right hand during an altercation with Tampa Bay's Eric Brewer on January 7th - reportedly suffering a deep cut on the hand - Kane missed four games before returning to action for the same number, then being placed on the IR retroactive to January 26th when the injury became infected.
Paul Maurice said
that Chris Thorburn will take Kane's place on the team's second line with Mark Scheifele centering he and Blake Wheeler.
In 42 games for the Jets, Kane has scored 15 goals and assisted on 14 others, his 29 points good for eighth on the club despite missing 16 games.
Kane has been rumored to be on the trading block, with Montreal and Vancouver being the most suggested landing spot, but it is not certain how much this latest injury, combined with his lower-body injury suffered earlier in the season, may affect these rumors, if at all.
